Maria Kirchental

A popular pilgrimage destination is the pilgrimage church Maria Kirchental in St. Martin near Lofer. It is located at the foot of the impressive Loferer Steinberge and can be comfortably hiked from the apartments Auer. Once at the top, the "Pinzgau Cathedral", as the church built in Baroque style is called by many pilgrims, the largest collection of votive images in Austria, the pilgrimage museum, the House of Reflection and the Kirchental Inn await you.

Jakobsweg

A beautiful section of the most famous pilgrimage trail, the "Jakobsweg", can be hiked in Lofer. The path leads you from Unken upstream at the Teufelssteg towards Lofer. From there you could hike even further into Tyrol, to Waidring. Worthwhile makes this route especially the idyllic hike along the Saalach, past the beautiful chapels in Reith and Au.
