Sledding in the Saalachtal

A nice change from skiing and snowboarding is a fun tobogganing with the whole family, because a rapid descent makes not only children's hearts beat faster. Tobogganing is simply part of a winter vacation in the Salzburg Saalachtal, and so the region also has many toboggan runs to offer, which are spread across the villages of St. Martin, Lofer, Unken and Weißbach. A special pleasure is tobogganing on the natural toboggan runs in the evening under a full moon or on the partially illuminated runs. 

Our tip is the toboggan run Maria Kirchental in St. Martin near Lofer. Every Thursday the toboggan run is illuminated with torches from 8 pm. After the ascent to the high valley, it is recommended to stop at the Kirchental inn for a meal or to warm up. Afterwards, the 2.14 km long toboggan run takes you back down to the valley. If you want to make the ascent to Maria Kirchental easier, you can also use the toboggan cab.
